DIY Sunscreen SPF 30
1/4 cup coconut oil SPF 4
1/4 cup shea butter SPF 5
4-5 teaspoons zinc oxide (NON NANO! DO NOT INHALE! Will not absorb into skin) SPF 20+
4 Tablespoons aloe juice
1 vitamin E capsule
Melt the coconut oil and shea butter in a double boiler.
Stir in the zinc oxide powder.
Add the aloe juice
Squeeze one vitamin E capsule (if you choose to use it) and mix in. This will help to preserve the product a bit longer (which is a good idea since it contains water-based ingredients which have a short shelf life).
As the mixture begins to cool, whip it to a nice lotion consistency.
Package in a jar with a secure fitting lid. DO NOT USE ESSENTIAL OILS! Unless you are certain they are not photo sensitive. Use the wrong oil, and your lotion is void in one day or less.
