My Vision for Life

When I, Julia, began this journey of being a wife and mother I had an idea of what I wanted that to look like, I figured my Mom is ...

Become the more Pinteresting You!

There are so many memes online these days about how the person you are and the home you have on Pinterest will never be the home and the you in real life. Well I decided that is a bunch of horse apples! So here is a list of 10 things you can do to make sure the you on Pinterest and the you in reality measure up.

... in no particular order...

1.) Label Your Boards-
No need to label your boards with what the site suggests, or even anything that makes sense to your followers. Lets be honest, no one is really looking at your board, they are looking at the pin itself and then repining or searching for a key word. So label your board with something that means something to you! For example my Recipe Board is named "Using my Food Storage". That way if the pin doesn't really fit into your life as is, you second guess before pinning it up.

2.) Have Goals and Then Theme-
Because my goal is to live a more Gospel centered life I choose to label all my boards with something that matches that theme to keep me on track. "Raising Children of God", "Cleanliness is next to Godliness" ... see the trend? Sticking to a theme makes it so that nothing you pin goes outside the general goals of your life.

3.) Clean Up!-
Every month or so go through all your pin boards and delete anything that doesn't sound as appealing as it did before, that doesn't really match the style you're going for, or that you will never really do. Eliminating clutter from your pin boards is just as important as eliminating it from your home and life in reality.

4.) Pin with Purpose-
Don't just pin it, pin it with a purpose! When you pin ask yourself if it is logical to pin for the future. If you wouldn't use it, don't pin it!

5.) Hit Delete-
When you complete a project, comment on the original pin to tell how the project went and if you have pointers for others, if you so choose, then DELETE the pin from your pin board! Thus, securing yourself a smooth transition from Pin to Reality.

6.) Follow a Stranger-
Search for boards that have a common theme with your interest. Then follow stranger's boards that  match your style. If your feed is filled with things that interest you, you will be less likely to pin from random friends out of habit, and your boards will fill with projects you really might complete. You can also quit following the board when you are done with that certain project or group of projects that currently fascinates you. For example, I will not be a Montessori Mom forever, so the many Montessori at home boards I follow will eventually become of not.

7.) Hit "Like"-
^^That said, you don't need to stop following your friends! Just learn to hit "like" if you do in fact like the pin, but find it something impractical for your own uses.

8.) Go and Do-
This is a big "uh duh"--> Don't just pin, or even pin with good intent! DO IT!! If you pin it you better plan to complete your project!

The look my husband gives when I ask him a question. I know he thinks I'm adorable and really loves it ;-)

9.) Ask your husband-
You don't need to get his opinion on every blasted pin. Trust me, your husband would be just as annoyed as mine. But if you get ready to pin that amazing pasta free lasagna for the health of your family, you may want to ask your husband if he would even eat it. If the answer is "no", you can either pin it for a special just you and the kids board, for when he is away, or you can pass on pinning it.

10.) Write a book-
Okay, okay, okay... YOU aren't writing much of anything, but transferring some of those awesome tips and tricks or recipes to a binder or notebook will be a ton easier in the future, provides a place for personal notes to be made, and all those tips for how to live in case of an emergency will actually be available, should an emergency occur.
