My Vision for Life

When I, Julia, began this journey of being a wife and mother I had an idea of what I wanted that to look like, I figured my Mom is ...

CPR is as easy as C-A-B

Compressions: Push hard and fast on the center of the victim's chest

Airway: Tilt the victim's head back and lift the chin to open the airway

Breathing: Give mouth-to-mouth rescue breaths

--Adults:

  • Push at least 2inches on breastbone 100 times per minute
  • After 3 compressions, open the airway and check for breathing or blockage (never do a finger sweep, as you may have been previously taught, it can force a block lower and worsen the problem)
  • Tilt chin back and give two rescue breaths; repeat with 30 compressions to 2 breaths until help arrives.
--Infants and small children:
  • Same as adult CPR
  • Shout and tap for responsiveness
  • Begin with compressions using 2-3 fingers in center of chest, about 1 1/2 inches deep.
  • After 30 compressions, give 2 breaths; repeat until help arrives.
Always call 9-1-1 first or send for help!

Count out loud so that when help arrives they know where you are in your compressions and can take over without delay.

It is hard work to keep compressions going but bear in mind it is a life saving task and don't give up! If you have someone to take turns with you do so!
